ABOUT

Doors open on a race night at 6.30pm and we have to be out of the hall by 10pm.

We aim to have three heats and a final for everyone. Race nights are normally busy but great fun with close fast racing. The more experienced members of the club are always on hand to provide advice with car set up or if you are thinking about starting racing radio controlled model cars.

The club mainly races gt12 and lmp12 class, these are great starter classes. Both are rear wheel drive powered by an electric motor and lithium polymer batteries. They have foam tyres and a lexan bodyshell to give both aerodynamics and protection to the internal components of the car. The cars are very robust and once set up require only minor weekly maintenance to keep them running in tip top condition.

We race on a carpet that has been selected specifically for rc car racing. The track perimeter and internal boundaries/corners are laid out using 2 inch square plastic box section. This clearly defines the race track and keeps cars in there respective lanes and also has enough give to ensure any crashes into it are absorbed, reducing car damage.

Different “bodyshells” can be used on the cars to give different handling characteristics. Even at this small size aerodynamics still play quite an important part of the handling of the car. There are many to choose from to give your car your own personal touch.

We race at:

The Wellbank Village Hall
3a Kellas Road
Wellbank
Dundee

Parking is available outside the venue.
